Crews said daylight shone by the glass decoration, concentrating light on to a sofa.

LAKE DELTON, Wis. — A glass “crystal ball” decoration put in a sunny location led to a home fireplace, the Delton Hearth Division stated.

In a Facebook put up, the fire department reported they have been known as to a Delton dwelling on Monday. When crews arrived, they noticed visible smoke and identified that the fire was just in the home’s living home region. No 1 was injured, but the fire department said damage was estimated at $250,000.

When crews investigated, they mentioned they located the bring about of the fire: a glass “crystal ball” on a desk around a couch. The fire section stated when daylight shone by means of the windows and specifically through the ball, it ignited the sofa.

The Delton Fire Office cautioned individuals to retain products like crystals, mirrors, glass decorations and bottles out of immediate daylight — specifically near just about anything flammable.

“These things can act just like a magnifying glass and concentration daylight so that the strength, which would typically be spread out around a vast space, is shipped to a a great deal scaled-down point,” the fireplace section wrote.
