A man police explained is armed with a shotgun barricaded himself inside a Melbourne residence at noon Friday.

Deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Melbourne Law enforcement Department surrounded the home on Caribbean Travel and are trying to negotiate with the man through a megaphone.

Hearth and rescue crews were on standby, police officials said.

There are no other people within the home, law enforcement claimed.
