WOOSTER – You couldn’t ask for better weather for the 31st annual Wayne County Home and Garden Show.
Past shows have seen snow, rain and heavy winds. Though on Saturday, Mother Nature allowed bright blue clear skies with temperatures rising toward the 80s at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.
Parking lots were packed and folks from seniors to children were enjoying the show’s festivities. Vendors from Wooster to Pennsylvania and Indiana were part of the show, with over 140 vendors ranging from home improvement, nonprofits, food and plant life.

The show was hosted by Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce and prime sponsor Apple Creek Banking.
Apple Creek Banking has sponsored the home and garden show for 16 years, Vice President Jeff Smith said.
“My favorite part is being able to see people visit and search for home improvement needs,” Smith said.
Samira Zimmerly, Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce president, has worked with the chamber for 12 years.
Planning for the show starts immediately after the previous show ends, she said. Finding possible vendors, brain storming and putting ads out in the fall.
“[We’re] excited to have a community event that brings everyone together,” said Grace Howell, Wooster Chamber events and programming coordinator. “[We] appreciate all who made this event possible.”
Vendors from wood toys to herb gardens showcased
First-time vendor Primitive Crossroads Craft Barn from Crawford sells handmade decorations with a farm focus.
Owner Angie Weisenauer’s travels have taken her 10 hours away from her home to showcase her handmade gifts.
Weisenauer started crafting 25 years ago — a tradition she shares with her mother, she said.
Vendor Possum Products LLC sells handmade wood toys that range from trucks, airplanes, tractors and trains. The wooden toys have been crafted for over 10 years, said Adam Riggle, son of owner Russ Riggle.
Adam Riggle mostly sands the wooden toys while Russ Riggle does the woodworking from his basement.
Another first-time vendor, Hummingbird Hill Flower Farm, made its home in the plant sale exhibit. Owners Joe and Gina Morbitzer have planting herbs and flowers for the past two years but just opened for business last year, Joe Morbitzer said.
The farm, located at 10055 S Funk Road, Shreve, is home to Morbitzers’ herb and flower garden along with yoga and meditation classes.
Hummingbird Hill Flower Farm had several herbs to choose from including eight different types of basil. Approximately 1,000 herbs were brought to the show, Gina Morbitzer said.
“Not only has the chamber made us feel welcomed but [they’ve] gone above and beyond,” Morbitzer said.
