Phoenix police make arrest following a woman was shot just beore a car she was using in slammed into a house.


PHOENIX (3Tv/CBS 5) – A lady is dead just after law enforcement say she was shot by the driver of the car she was in in advance of that car crashed into a Phoenix residence Saturday afternoon. A suspect is now in custody.

It happened all over 3:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 43rd  Avenue and Bethany Dwelling Highway. The preliminary get in touch with to Phoenix law enforcement was that a girl was staying assaulted by a gentleman inside of a auto that crashed into a property.

Sgt. Maggie Cox said when officers bought to the house, they found 23-calendar year-old Mikayla Ballesteros in the passenger seat of the vehicle, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. 

They also located witnesses restraining the driver of the motor vehicle, 37-yr-outdated Carnell Antoin Cunningham, from leaving. Ballesteros was taken to a hospital wherever she was later pronounced dead, Cox explained.

Cunningham was also injured in the crash. Police detained him and he was transported to the hospital. Following his launch from the clinic, Cox mentioned detectives made possible induce to book him into jail for murder and aggravated assault.

The connection among the Cunningham and Ballesteros is not known at this time. Police do say it appears the taking pictures happened prior to the collision. Officers are doing the job to determine what led up to the shooting.
