Springdale officials never received official communication from Costco saying it intended to shutter the Springdale location when the Liberty Township store opens.

The Costco in Springdale is set to undergo renovation following the opening of another location in Greater Cincinnati, according to city officials.

Despite news reports and rumors on social media, city officials never received any official communication from Costco saying it intended to shutter the Springdale location.

Costco, the Washington-based chain of big-box retail stores, has plans for exterior and interior modifications, said Andy Kuchta, Springdale’s economic development director.

However, the company has yet to officially submit documents to the city’s building department for review or approval, Building Director Carl Lamping said in an email.

Kuchta said the Springdale location will be converted into a Costco Business Center.

According to the company’s website, business center locations offer an expanded collection of groceries, as well as restaurant supplies, business supplies and commercial appliances.
